Day 13: The Final Match of the 2022 World Cup

Welcome back readers, Camila and Ashley here on another blog post. Today was a day people all over the world had been waiting for the past four years. The FINAL MATCH of the FIFA World Cup was being played. Now before we get into the details of that we wanted to start it off with our morning. We were able to sleep in today, which was so nice, not having to rush and get ready and just do everything at our own pace was much needed after the last two weeks of busy schedules.

Ashley:
I then proceeded to look for a place to watch the final match. Some of our group went to the Sharq Village Ritz-Carlton hotel for a day at the beach, poolside fun, and a luxury massage. A group of us enjoyed watching the match at a Mexican restaurant at the Pearl which is a very nice area here in Doha. It was a great spot to watch the game, sitting down munching on good Mexican food, enjoying one last night in the city together.

Camila:
Another student and I went everywhere to figure out a nice place to watch the Final Match of the 2022 World Cup. It was very chaotic. Most of the metros were closed. All Uber drivers were busy. Luckily, we were able to get an Uber to the FIFA Fan Festival as that’s where we decided to go, however, it got full very fast, so it was quite crazy to get in. There were people arguing with the security and other people were shoving their way to get in, however, none of the security people let them in since the Fan Festival got so full so quickly. We ended up leaving the line to get into the Fan Festival and went down to the FOX Sports Studio to watch the match instead. It was honestly a great experience to watch it there since there were a lot of Argentinian fans (I was rooting for Argentina)! After the amazing match, it took me and the other student around 3 hours and 30 minutes to get home since the metros were still closed (due to the foot traffic) and the Uber drivers were still very busy. However, we ended up seeing three of the professional Moroccan players at the Marriott since we had to go there to charge our phones. Overall, it was a great experience due to the match, however, I wish all the metros weren’t closed.

It was truly an amazing experience to be able to watch history happen in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The game had us feeling every emotion there could possibly be. People were screaming all over the place, you could really feel the energy of the crowd getting into the game,  it was certainly one for the books. Luckily the team we were both rooting for won and Messi was able to bring back the trophy after their last world cup victory in 1986. MESSI MESSI MESSI !!!

Today was overall a wonderful day here in Doha, being able to get a little rest and excitement was just what we needed before our long flights back to Texas!! SEE YOU SOON!!
