Day 5 - FIFA Volunteering, Calvin Harris Concert, & Match Day!

WELCOME BACK TO ANOTHER BLOG POST, LOYAL FOLLOWERS. Ashley and Paulina here, with some exciting information about our fifth day on this journey on the other side of the planet.

We started the day off by heading to the FIFA ticketing center, where we unfortunately found out all tickets were SOLD OUT. They directed us to the FIFA resale platform but it was also impossible to get tickets there. However, for those of us that have tickets, we found out we can print them as souvenirs in January and get them mailed home.

We then headed to our meeting which consisted of three presentations made by our fellow classmates. Each presentation informed us on various stadiums and significant locations here in the city of Doha.   Next, we enjoyed a nice lunch in the dorm cafeteria and then headed our separate ways.

Some of us attended the England vs France game while others attended our second volunteer shift for the FIFA Fan Festival. Paulina and Ashley were awarded employees of the month, due to their bright personalities and hospitality when interacting with fans that needed their aid.  We met other volunteers from Lebanon, Mexico, and London and realized that we are really into the British accents, and even learned a new word “Groovyyyyy” from our team leader.

The first match of the night was great to experience at the Fan Festival. Sadly Cristiano Ronaldo lost (tear drop), but majority of the fans in attendance were overwhelmed with excitement that Morocco had won.

We saw the very famous Scottish DJ, Calvin Harris, perform in a crowd of 40,000 people. Try to spot us in the picture below. We survived our way out of the crowd and headed toward Oxygen Park in Education City (right by our dorms) to watch the final game of the night.

We had a such an eventful day, thank you so much for keeping up with us.

Ps : if y’all are able to send us Chick-fil-a  overnight please do, we’ve been craving it :/
